Fearful that Snow White’s beauty would one day surpass her own, the Queen dressed her in rags and forced her to work as a scullery maid. Every day, the Queen would consult her all-seeing mirror, “Magic Mirror on the wall, who is the fairest one of all?” As long as the mirror answered that she was fairest of all, Snow White was safe from the Queen’s cruel jealousy. When the princess one day became fairest in the land, the wicked Queen ordered her murder, only to later discover she was still alive and hiding in the cottage with seven little miners. Disguising herself as an old peddler, the Queen brings a poisoned apple to Snow White, who falls into a death-like sleep that can be broken only by Love’s First Kiss.
The wicked Queen looms over the front of this backpack in applique form, holding a poisoned apple, green oozing on the skin to show the Sleeping Death that lies within. A lenticular effect shows it disguised as an ordinary red apple to tempt Snow White to hunger for a bite, while the princess herself can be seen singing to her animal friends in the forest. On the back, the slave emerges from the farthest space in the Magic Mirror.
