Gundam

Gundam is a Japanese science fiction media franchise that features giant robots, or "mecha", called "Mobile Suits" (MS). The franchise was created by Yoshiyuki Tomino and Sunrise (now Bandai Namco Filmworks). The first series, Mobile Suit Gundam, premiered in Japan in 1979 and defined the "real robot" mecha anime genre.
